NHS PARLIAMENTARY AWARDS 2024

Call for nominations for the NHS Parliamentary Awards 2024!

Healthcare professionals across the Stroud District do a phenomenal job and the NHS Parliamentary Awards are a brilliant opportunity to recognise and thank those staff who go above and beyond.

TRANSPORT QUESTIONS

Parents in Stroud, Nailsworth and Dursley have contacted me about school transport issues as well as our rural village families who have been convening meetings recently. They understand it involves private bus providers so it is not all about the county council.

SNJ COLUMN

There is an international debate happening over the use of smart phones by children and how they can damage young minds.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION CHAMPIONS RECEPTION

I was really pleased to nominate Mark McShane of Stroud High School to join me at 10 Downing Street for a Community Education Champions Reception.

I could have happily nominated every headteacher in the district so it was difficult to choose.

LEONARD STANLEY PRIMARY - SWIMMING POOL

I recently visited Leonard Stanley Primary School to meet with staff and pupils and to see the worn-out swimming pool that is part of their fundraising appeal.

STEP FREE ACCESS AT STROUD RAILWAY STATION

As you all know, the steps at the station are a nightmare for many people and the alternative of walking down and around via the main road is no better for people who are disabled, elderly or even those with heavy bags or young children.

POLICE UPDATE – WOTTON-UNDER-EDGE

I have been non-stop pestering the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gloucestershire team having surveyed residents of Wotton-under-Edge about crime and issues with response times.

STROUD HIGH STUDENTS IN PARLIAMENT

I thoroughly enjoyed joining Stroud High School students Eli, Eva and Selin and teacher Peter John at the APPG for Engineering in Parliament recently. I always love welcoming local people up to Westminster!
