I recently visited Leonard Stanley Primary School to meet with staff and pupils and to see the worn-out swimming pool that is part of their fundraising appeal. Many of you will know that their pool was built in the 1970s and needs to be demolished and rebuilt and as such, it has sadly been closed for some time now.
Currently, over £48,000 has been raised thanks to some brilliant fundraising events, local business donations and a sponsored skydive. My congratulations go to everyone who has been involved in raising this money - it truly has been a wonderful effort from so many people.
In the past, the pool has been a huge school and community asset and when it is rebuilt, that will be the case again.
