A quick video to update you all on what the boundary changes mean for the Stroud constituency at the next general election.
The Stroud constituency as we know it is going to dramatically change. Several areas including Hardwicke, Painswick, Longney, Epney, Upton St Leonards, Brookethrope, Haresfield, Bisley and Slad will be moving into the North Cotswolds constituency. On the flip side, we will be gaining the wonderful town of Wotton-under-Edge.
MPs did not get a vote on these changes as they were decided by an independent boundary commission. The reason our area is changing is because we have approximately an 86,000 voting electorate and the average across the country needs to be 72,000.
I know many local people have a wide range of thoughts and feelings about these changes so please do let me know yours by commenting below or emailing me at siobhan.baillie.mp@parliament.uk.
Finally, until the general election, I will remain the Member of Parliament for all of the areas in the constituency as it currently is so please do continue to contact me as I will still be working hard for you all.
