I am writing in my capacity as the chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Weddings.
As you are aware, on 14th June 2021 the Government released updated guidance to assist couples and
businesses planning forthcoming weddings. This includes changes to the numbers of guests that are allowed
in attendance. The venue will determine guest numbers as per their risk assessment.
Registrars play a vital role in a couple’s special day and their expertise is crucial to ensure that multiple
weddings can take place every week.
Please find attached an FAQ document that the APPG has produced with the UK Weddings Taskforce.
Hopefully this will assist Registrars to understand the information that couples are relying on in conjunction
with the above mentioned government guidance.
I know that Registrars are going above and beyond to ensure that couples can get married after such a
difficult period. The APPG and the UK Weddings Taskforce really appreciate the ongoing relationship with
GRO and look forward to continuing to work together.
