A number of residents from Dursley have been in contact with concerns that the Dursley police station will close.
I am strongly against reducing any police footprint across the constituency.
On behalf of residents, I have been in touch with the Police and Crime Commission for Gloucestershire, seeking clarification.
I have been informed that the Commission are definitely not looking to reduce the police estate footprint in Dursley, or anywhere else in the County.
The Police and Crime Commission for Gloucestershire is looking to collaborate with colleagues in the fire services with the option to potentially base some policing teams in fire stations. This is to encourage joint working between police and fire services, make the best use of the public estate and taxpayers money.
Currently, there is an option in Dursley to co-locate the police teams at the fire station 500 metres down the road. This has not yet been decided and would be a longer term option.
